Help your child discover their inner Master Chef! In this fun class, parents/caregivers adn children will work together to cook delicious sweet and savoury dishes that they will be able to recreate later on at home.  Fee is for one adult and up to two children.  Children must be a minimum age of 9 years old.  Fee includes all ingredients for the course

Digital Photography Workshop - City Shooting

Learn how to connect with your environment to capture beautiful city scape images. Course will also cover composition aspects of architectural shooting.  Also learn how  to use the city as a backdrop for shooting people – one session will be held using a model.  This course will take place at different locations around the city – enrolled students will be sent a list. Your own camera is essential - either a compact or DSLR.  Suitable for students with some experience of photography who are familiar with their cameras.

Learn how to capture beautiful images of people in both ambient light and flash. Course will cover connecting with your subject, compositition and clothing. In the first 3 weeks, students will practise shooting other students in the class.  The final week will be a 3 hour session held at Bret’s commerical studios with a live shoot of a model. Your own camera is essential - either a compact or DSLR.  Suitable for people with some experience of photography who are familiar with their camera.

Learn how to compose and shoot still life effectively.  You will photograph a range of still life including flower arrangements and food.  Final week will be held in Bowman’s Restaurant shooting food by top chefs. Clothes hanging in your wardrobe with the tags still on?  Not sure what clothes to buy for the new summer season?  This is a course that can help eliminate these problems and save you money!  Trained Stylist Nicola Zuurbier will take you through the basics of understanding what shape you are and provide you with expert advice on how to dress for it. Malaysian Cooking

With Malay, Chinese and Indian influences, Malaysian cusine is well known for its range of flavours and spices.  In this course, Chef Eddie Tan will teach you how to cook a variety of Malaysian dishes including appetisers, soups, curries and mains.

Mediterranean Cooking

This class invites you to travel to Italy, France, Spain, Morocco, Greece, Turkey and Egypt.  In each class you will prepare two or three classic or favourite dishes from some of these countries.  Recipes will include lamb tagine, fettuccine alla pizzaiola, moussaka, cheese pastries (borek), couscous, yufkali pilaf, foccacia and more.  You will learn new techniques and be introduced to exotic spices.

 

Paper craft - Greeting cards and mini books

Learn the techniques of creating art from paper as you make greeting cards, gift tags and mini books. Many of these techniques are also suitable for scrapbooking.  $15 materials fee payable to tutor on the first night for a basic kit of materials to get you started.  Further materials may be required.

Pastry and Bread

Make delicious sweet and savoury recipes for breakfast, brunch and coffee time. Learn tips on how to work with both ready made and home made pastry.  Get creative as you fold, mould, stuff, twist, plait and roll it.  You will also learn how to make different types of bread, such as Turkish, pita and foccaccia.

Patchwork and Quilting

Bring along your own project to work on, or make a beautiful sampler quilt designed by our tutor.  Learn about different patchwork techniques, how to choose complimentary coloursfor your quilt, and how to piece your work together.  Our experienced tutor will also be able to pass on tips and tricks she has gained from over 12 years of quilting.  Both hand and machine quilting is possible in this class - machines supplied.  Materials are extra.
