Basic Car Maintenance and Automotive Repairs (Mechanics)

A practical class for the home mechanic. Learn how to perform a grease and oil change, the maintaining and tuning of an engine, changing brake pads, engine troubleshooting and more. 

Furniture Making & Design

  • Tutors: Gerald Le Mesurier and Mark England
  • Term 1: starts Monday 11 February 2013
  • Term 2: starts Monday 13 May 2013
  • Time: 6-9pm
  • Class held every Monday for 7 weeks
  • Fee: $139

Design and make your own furniture. Work on your own project at your own pace.  This course is suitable for people with some previous woodworking experience. All equipment is supplied, but you will need to bring your own materials.  Please note that no recycled timber is to be used as it may damage school equipment.

Picture Framing

  • Tutor: Bill Eaton
  • Time: 7-9pm
  • Term 1: starts Tuesday 12 February 2013

  • Held every Tuesday for 7 weeks
  • Fee: $95

Learn basic picture framing techniques including cutting of mats, mouldings and glass; assembly and finishing of frame.  Bring picture on the night to frame - beginners pelase bring a picture size A4 or smaller.  (No canvases, pastels or embroideries).  $10 is payable to the tutor for use and maintenance of his tools.  Framing materials not included in fee.  Class limited to 10 students.

Small Engine Repairs

  • Tutor: Brij Narayan
  • Time: 7-9pm
  • Term 1: starts Wednesday 20 February 2013
  • Term 2: no class
  • Every Wednesday for 6 weeks
  • Price: $95

Learn how to repair small engines such as outboard motors, lawn mowers and motorbikes.  Class will be practical.  Note: in this class you can just focus on the engine/s which most interest you.

Welding for Beginners

  • Tutor: Mohammed Hussain 
  • Time: 6.30 - 8.30pm
  • Term 1: starts Tuesday 12 February 2013
  • Term 2: starts Monday 13 May or Tuesday 21 May 2013 (2 welding classes are offered this term)
  • Held Every Monday or Tuesday for 6 weeks
  • Fee: $200 - Class limited to four students

Learn the basics of Mig and Arc welding. Students will spend the first few weeks learning welding techniques which they will be able to apply to making their own small project in the second part of the course. Each student will have their own welder to work with.  Material costs will be extra.

Woodwork and Furniture Restoration

  • Held every Tuesday for 8 weeks
  • Fee: $95

Work on your own project at your own pace under the guidance of the instructor.  Build something new from scratch, or learn how to restore a piece of wooden furniture.  All equipment supplied, but you are required to bring your own material. A hands-on practical class you will enjoy.

Woodwork for Beginners to Intermediate

  • Time: 7-9pm 
  • Term 1: starts Wednesday 13 February 2013

  • Class held every Wednesday for 8 weeks
  • Fee: $95

Work on your own project at your own pace under Paul's guidance.  All equipment is supplied.  If you know what you would like to make in the class, please bring it along with your wood on the first night - otherwise, Paul will be able to advise you.  This is a hands-on, practical class. Please note, that no recycled timber is to be used as it may damage school equipment.
