Media Studies - Akoranga Pāpāho
Ko te tokonga whakaaro te tohu ki ngā mahi rerekētanga.
Imagination is the key to innovation.
The Media Studies Department at Mount Roskill Grammar School gives students the ability to think critically about the media world around them, a skill essential for living in an increasingly complex and technological world. Available in Years 10, 12 and 13, media students study a range of texts, from television programmes to websites, independent film to breakfast radio shows, looking at how and why they are constructed the way they are.
Students are encouraged to use their theoretical knowledge in a practical situation, where they take part in the creation of a media product. Using the Media Department’s digital cameras and editing equipment, students this year have created a range of media texts, from examples of film noir to documentaries; 'thrillers’ and modern twists on classic fairy tales.
