Puketāpapa Youth Board

Puketāpapa Youth Board 150 150 admin

We finally concluded our Postcard Campaign on Transport. Our mission was to get feedback from the local youth about their opinions via a postcard on the transport in Puketāpapa, both negative and positive, also asked how AKL Transport can help fix the problem. Data and info will be collected and be sent to the Puketāpapa Local Board and Auckland Transport. Thank you to all the school that was involved and of course, the helpers and youth board members that helped make this possible!

The goal was when a postcard was completed and proofread, the person who filled it get a free sausage or ice block.

Our next youth engagement is the Puketāpapa Youth Summit 2019. Will be posting about this in the near future!

Consent Awareness week

Consent Awareness week 150 150 admin

Consent Awareness Week: Thanks to our fantastic PSSP team for leading the way on consent.

It is crucial that our students are exposed to the question, “Are you ok with this?”. Given how important appearing cool is, it is often embarrassing or difficult for students to ask for consent even when they want to. “Are you ok with this?” is the simple, inoffensive question that answers this issue.

AMENDED dates for your diary for Week 6

Monday 3 June:
Queen’s Birthday weekend. School Closed.

Tuesday 4 June:
Open Day reminder [4-7pm]. School will close early at 2pm. Year 10-13 students who need to remain for rehearsals, practices, sports games or as Open Day helpers can remain at school after 2pm until their activity has finished.

Further Industrial action – Rolling strikes:

Tuesday 4 June:
Year 9 students are to be rostered home on this day. Because the majority of our teaching staff are PPTA members I am asking you to keep any Year 9 children at home for the day. However, if your child has to be at school please notify reception admin@mrgs.school.nz by end of day Friday 31 May and they will be supervised for independent study by non-union members; there will not be any teaching and learning in timetabled classes for Year 9 students.

We were only given official notification this afternoon so we were unable to inform you sooner. An email will be sent to all parents/caregivers tomorrow and will include the other planned, but not officially notified, year level rostering home events. If and when any of them are officially notified we will inform you as soon as we can. I recognise that this is disruptive for whānau and appreciate your understanding.
