Alumni Diana Qiu (and moot partner) Michael Greatrex represented Auckland Law School in Melbourne recently. They attended the Australian Universities Moot competition and came 6th in a very strong academic field.
Mooting is an activity which simulates a court hearing. Participants are required to analyse a fictional problem and to make legal and factual arguments before a judge in an appeal court.
Each year, the best mooters of each Australasian university are invited to compete at the Australian Law Students’ Association (ALSA) Championship Moot. Diana and Michael won the University of Auckland Stout Shield Moot, Auckland’s most prestigious mooting competition, and so spent the past couple of weeks preparing and competing at ALSA.
