Consent Awareness Week

Consent Awareness Week 150 150 Simon Whitlock

Week 5 was Mount Roskill Grammar School’s fourth “Consent Awareness Week” run by the Peer Sexuality Support Programme team.
During this week, we raise awareness about the New Zealand law and sexual consent. Consent is needed before you can have sexual contact with someone else. Consent is a free agreement between people, and cannot be coerced, pressured and forced. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
To be able to give consent, you need to be 16 and over and clear minded (not drunk or under the influence of drugs).
It is the older person’s responsibility to ensure the person they are with is 16 or older. This law exists to protect young people from being exploited by older people.
