Celebrating the young performers of No. 3 Roskill Theatre, a local theatre project that have come together as part of Auckland Arts Festival to share their hilarious, naughty, soulful and heartbreaking personal stories of life and change in the most diverse neighbourhood in Aotearoa… Their show Love to Say Goodbye is a bittersweet collage of friendship, family, identity, belonging, displacement and home. I’m so moved that they chose the iconic No. 2 house as their temporary home… No. 2 was always a nostalgic story. It was my love letter to family and community. But it was also about handing over to the next generation. In an age dominated by remakes and rehashing of the same old stories, this group is a both a moving celebration of the past, and an exciting glimpse into a diverse, unified future.
