Dear Year 12/13 students
2020 has been a year unlike any other. The impact that Covid has had across the globe is one thing that no one would have predicted and the nature of the virus has caused disruption to the daily lives of everyone, from the moving of the election to the cancellation of numerous community events. You will know first-hand how this has impacted on our school and in particular the final year of study for Year 13 students.
Given the current Alert Level and the uncertainty that we will be back to Level 1 by September 18, the difficult decision has been made to cancel the Mt Roskill Grammar School ball this year.
We were very keen to keep the school ball in place as it is a significant event on the school calendar and one that students look forward to. Preparation for this event, including the organisation of theming, DJ, tickets, advertising and photography was well underway.
The reason this decision has been made is that there would be a significant financial cost to you personally should the ball be cancelled after today, and also the venue would not be able to cater for the number of students wanting to attend unless we are guaranteed to be at Level 1. If you have already purchased tickets you will be refunded your money through accounts when this is possible.
Many of you will be disappointed by this news although for Year 13 we still plan to hold the Graduation dinner at the end of the year. We look forward to seeing you all back at school as soon as possible.
