Mount Roskill Grammar School offers basketball to both boys and girls at a competitive and social level.
Director of Basketball: Martin Windsor
Teams: Senior Boys and Senior Girls, U17 Boys, Junior Boys and Junior Girls.
Competition: Senior Boys and Girls Basketball games are played as home and away on Friday evenings. Senior competition runs through Term 2 and Term 3 each year. Exact dates will be shared at the beginning of the season.
Under 17 Boys’ competition games take place on a Thursday afternoon/evening at MRGS and other local schools and venues. Under 17 competition runs through Term 2 and 4-5 weeks into Term 3.
Junior Boys and Junior Girls compete on a Wednesday afternoon/evening at MRGS and other local schools and venues. Junior competition runs through Term 2 and 4-5 weeks into Term 3.
Training: Players in the Senior Boys and Girls teams are required to train twice a week. Training times vary for all teams. We utilize our indoor facilities to provide quality coaching for all teams. We also offer a strength and conditioning programme for our Senior Boys team.
Equipment: Basketball uniform provided. The Sports Department can provide mouth guards for a small cost. Mouth guards are now compulsory for all competitive fixtures.
Parent help: We require all students to transport themselves to and from Basketball games. Parents are welcome to volunteer their time with the role of scoring.
