When is basketball played?

Basketball is a winter sport and is played in Term 2 and 3. The season starts week 2 of Term 2 and finishes early Term 3. The senior teams both represent the school during tournament week, later in Term 3. MRBA takes place in Term 4 at lunchtime in Gym 3.

What are the training commitments?

The majority of basketball teams train twice a week and vary according to coach and gym availability. Our senior boys team also has a strength and conditioning programme

What days are the games played?

Our two Senior teams play home and away fixtures on a Friday night. The U17 Boys play on a Tuesday night at the Trusts Stadium. Our two Junior teams play on a Wednesday night, generally at the Trusts but also at local venues.

Is there a cost associated with basketball?

The cost to play basketball for the school is $100. This helps to cover entry fees, uniforms and transport. Students representing the school in two basketball teams are required to pay an additional $50. Tournament week is an additional cost. This cost will be included in a letter nearer the time.

Do I need my own equipment?

MRGS supply the basketball uniform for all teams. Basketballs are provided for training. Students are required to purchase a mouth guard. Mouth guards are now compulsory for all competitive fixtures.
